It was February, minus eight degrees outside, and Peter \u2014 a successful IT manager from Ru\u017einov, Bratislava (Slovakia) \u2014 was sitting across from us in the studio, talking about burnout. Not about design. About burnout. “I want a place where I come home and completely switch off,”<\/strong> he said. That was the moment we understood this project would be about far more than tiles and lighting. It would be about a lifestyle. About a home wellness zone \u2014 a concept that over the past three years has shifted from the pages of luxury villa catalogues directly into apartments and family homes across Central Europe.<\/p>\n And this is no isolated trend. According to research by the European Spa Association, demand for residential wellness features in Central Europe grew by more than 67%<\/strong> after 2021. People no longer want to travel in search of relaxation \u2014 they want it at home. That is precisely where our work begins.<\/p>\n When most people hear “home wellness zone”, they picture a sprawling property with a swimming pool and a sauna large enough for five. The reality is quite different \u2014 and far more attainable. A wellness zone is any space that is consciously designed for the physical and mental regeneration of its occupants.<\/strong> It could be a bathroom fitted with a steam shower in a 65 m\u00b2 flat, or a dedicated relaxation corner with a sauna in the basement of a family home.<\/p>\n For Peter’s project, we worked with the existing bathroom (9 m\u00b2) and an adjoining dressing room (4 m\u00b2), which we redesigned as an integral part of the wellness space. The result? A 13 m\u00b2 comprehensive wellness zone<\/strong> featuring a two-person infrared sauna, a steam shower, chromotherapy lighting, and a built-in speaker system \u2014 all without touching a single load-bearing wall and without the disruption of a major structural renovation.<\/p>\n The key elements that set a genuine wellness zone apart from an ordinary bathroom:<\/p>\n It is precisely the combination of these elements that creates a space which genuinely restores you \u2014 rather than simply looking impressive in a photograph.<\/p>\n Let us return to Peter. The entire wellness zone project took 14 weeks from our first meeting to handover<\/strong>. We break it down into phases \u2014 because transparency of process is exactly what clients expect from a premium studio, and what most contractors simply do not offer.<\/p>\n Every project at Archideal begins with an in-depth briefing \u2014 not a form, but a conversation. We want to understand how a client spends their mornings, what causes them stress, and whether they prefer darkness or natural light when they unwind. From these insights, we developed a concept presented through photorealistic 3D visualisations<\/a> \u2014 allowing the client to experience the space before a single nail was struck. This step eliminates costly changes during construction and is now a standard part of every project we deliver.<\/p>\n Demolition, pipework, tiling, and technical installations \u2014 every aspect was coordinated by our dedicated project manager. The client did not need to handle a single call with any tradesperson. Materials used: Italian travertine wall tiles (Marazzi Mystone collection)<\/strong>, thermally treated ash wood for the sauna lining, and Hansgrohe Raindance series fittings. Infrared sauna unit: Karibu Double (a Finnish brand, available on the Slovak market from approximately \u20ac1,800).<\/p>\n Final styling, professional photography, and handover \u2014 complete with a printed maintenance manual.
